Configuring your UT Gmail Account in Outlook for Mac

Prior to configuring your UT Gmail account in Outlook, you will need to follow the steps in these articles to allow Outlook to access your account and enable IMAP on your Gmail account.

 

Configuring your UT Gmail Account in Outlook:

  1. Launch Outlook on your Mac.
  2. Click the word Outlook in the upper left corner.
  3. Choose Preferences.
  4. Choose Accounts.
  5. In the Accounts window, click the '+' sign in the lower left corner and choose New Account.
  6. A new window will appear. Enter your full UT email address as the username. Click Continue.

  7. Outlook will try to configure the account as an Office365 account; close the password window that appears.

  8. Locate the button in the upper right corner that reads Not Office365?

  9. A window will appear with various account types; choose Gmail.

  10. Enter your UT NetID password in the password box that appears and click Sign in.
    Note:  If your password is not working and you have confirmed it is not expired or forgotten, follow the link at the top of this article to Allow Access to Gmail for Less Secure Apps
  11. Your account is now added and ready to use.
