What clickers are currently supported at UTK? Beginning Fall 2017, UTK supports the ResponseCard devices below, pictured left to right: NXT, NXT2, QT, and QT2. Only the QT2 device is available at The VOLSHOP. The other devices are no longer manufactured; however, they will function with your Turning Account subscription. Where can I purchase a clicker? The clicker devices are available from The VOLSHOP or online via the Turning Technologies online store. Students can access the online store via the Turning Account registration page. Can I have more than one clicker? A student can register more than one clicker device to their account. However, they can only use one device at a time. What if my clicker is defective? All students should contact Turning Technologies directly to report defective clicker devices. If the device is deemed defective and the student is due a replacement device, Turning Technologies will issue a notice to the student via email that the student can print and submit to The VOLSHOP. Turning Technologies can be reached at 866-746-3015. Do I need a Turning Account? All UTK students enrolled in a course using TurningPoint for classroom polling must create a Turning Account. They must use their UTK email address. The Turning Account provides the options for polling with a clicker device and/or any web-enabled device via TurningPoint Mobile. Do I need a subscription to use TurningPoint? All students must have a subscription to create the Turning Account and to use TurningPoint. The account subscription also gives the student the ability to use any web-enabled device for polling via TurningPoint Mobile. How do I obtain the subscription? A student may obtain their Turning Account subscription with the purchase of a new clicker device bundled with the subscription or by purchasing a subscription only scratch off card to use with an existing clicker. The subscriptions are available for a 1 or 2-year duration and may be purchased from The VOLSHOP or online via the Turning Technologies online store, which is accessible via the Turning Account Registration page. Note: If the scratch-off subscription code is invalid, verify if the code is entered correctly. If so, the student must return the scratch-off card to The VOLSHOP. Can I purchase just a subscription to use with my current clicker? Students may purchase a subscription only to use with an existing clicker. The 1- or 2-year subscription may be purchased as a scratch-off card from The VOLSHOP or online via the Turning Technologies online store, which is accessible via the Turning Account Registration page. If I purchased a subscription last year, do I need a new subscription? A Turning Account subscription (1- or 2-years) is valid from the date of activation to the date of expiration. Students do not need to purchase a new subscription for the 2017-2018 academic year if they purchased a 4-year subscription during the 2016-2017 academic year. How can I tell if my subscription has expired? If a student purchased and activated a subscription in the past, the subscription will be valid from the date of activation to the date of expiration. Therefore, if the student logs into their Turning Account and has a green checkmark under subscription, they can click on the subscription to view the expiration date. If there is no checkmark, it generally indicates that the subscription has expired. However, the student may contact Turning Technologies at 866-746-3015 to verify. Can I use the Turning Account subscription on Canvas and is the Turning Account subscription good for all my classes? The Turning Account subscription is valid for the Canvas Learning Management Systems (LMS). Students must register a turning account subscription within the LMS for which their course is taught.
