Sharing Files Using Google Drive

  1. Open your Google Drive account
Note: If you have a personal Google account it is recommended to log into your UTK Google Apps for Education account in a separate browser to avoid permissions conflicts
  2. Upload the files you want to share using Google Drive. If the files are already uploaded to your account, select them and click the 'Share' icon at the top.
Alternatively, you can right-click on the file and select the 'Share' option from the context menu.

  3. The popup window will show up the list of people who currently have access to your file and the current permission of the file on the web.
  4. Click the drop-down with 'Can Edit' selected to  change the permissions of the user you are adding. If the file has not yet been shared, enter the name and email of person you are wanting to share with and select the desired permission level.
  5. If you click the shareable link in the upper right section of the comment box share a link with the desired person(s).
Copy and paste this link to share in your email or communications.
