OIT Home > OIT Knowledge Base Search Knowledge Base: How do I run Banner INB? Many OIT applications, including Banner INB, require Java JRE to run. Java JRE is a plugin that works with Java and is installed with Java. Banner INB Java Java 7 Update 75 – works. Other versions of 7 may work. Java 8 does not work. Once JAVA is installed, you will need to reset the security on JAVA. You do this by going to the Java console (windows start menu ->Control Panel->Java). On the Security tab, reset it from High or Medium. Also, add websites that use JAVA in the exceptions site list. When you log in, there may be a “Java has discovered application components that could indicate a security concern.” Select “NO” when if it asks “Block potentially unsafe components from being run”. Browsers Internet Explorer 11 (Internet Explorer 9 and 10 are known to work, but are unsupported by OIT and Microsoft) Firefox – any version below 50 Chrome will not work because it does not use Java plugins Note: For Argos, the 32-bit version of Java 7 Update 45 is required.
