How to change your saved WPA2 password if you have changed your NetID password and your computer is not in Active Directory.

 OS X 10.5/10.6 (Not in Active Directory)

  1. Click on the Apple Menu, select System Preferences.
  2. Click the Network, then select your Airport connection and click Advanced on the right.
  3. In the advanced settings click on the 802.1x tab.
  4. Select the WPA2 profile and you will see your user name and password.
  5. Change that password to the new password and then click Apply. You can confirm the change by either disconnecting from ut-wpa2 and then reconnecting… OR… Go back to the System Preferences, Network, Airport window and click Connect next to the 802.1x with WPA2 selected and it will show if it connects.

 Windows 7 (Not in Active Directory)

  1. Go to the Control Panel, select Network and Internet, and click on Network and Sharing Center. (If displaying all Control Panel icons, just select Network and Sharing Center)
  2. Click on Manage Wireless Networks.
  3. Right-click on the ut-wpa2 network and choose Properties.
  4. On the Properties window, select the Security tab, then click Advanced Settings.
  5. On the 802.1X settings tab, click on Save credentials and enter your NetID and current NetID password.
  6. Click OK on the next two screens to save your new NetID password for connecting to ut-wpa2. 

 Windows XP (Not In Active Directory) 

  1. Connect to ut-open
  2. Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox and go to
  3. Select the “UT“ vendor and then select the Wireless Configuration Utility. Click Download selected item and save it to your Desktop or Downloads folder.
  4. Click on wireless network icon in the System Tray (in the bottom right-hand corner where the time is displayed.)
  5. Click on View Wireless Networks
  6. Click on Change Advanced Settings
  7. Click on Wireless Networks tab
  8. Under Preferred Networks select ut-wpa2 and click Remove click OK.
  9. Locate the wireless configuration tool you just downloaded (hopefully located on your desktop or in your downloads folder.)
  10. Double-click to run the tool.
  11. Select “2” to add ut-wpa2.
  12. Then select cancel to quit wireless config tool.
  13. ut-wpa2 should now be reconfigured.
