How can I report an area where I have issues with wireless network coverage?

Are you ever in a classroom on campus where the wireless internet coverage could use a little TLC and wish you could tell someone about it right then and there? The Office of Information Technology is piloting a new service that allows you to text “UTKwifi” followed by your building and room number information to 55000 to report areas on campus where there may be issues with the wireless network. This new initiative will allow OIT to collect crowdsourced data provided by you, the students, staff, and faculty that are in the classrooms using the Wi-Fi every day. It is recommended to check that your device has been registered for use on the wireless network and is working normally in other areas of campus before texting in your location. This will help ensure that we have the most accurate data possible. As an added benefit of this service, if we receive several text messages in a short time frame for a specific area (for example the auditorium in Alumni Memorial Building), OIT will investigate the issue and dispatch network engineers if necessary. 

  1. Start a new text message address to "55000"
  2. Start with the keyword: UTKwifi
  3. Type in your building and room number
  4. Tap Send
